INTRODUCTION

Ayako Fukuyama is a Visiting Researcher at CRS and a Principal/Chief Trade Analyst at Owls Consulting Group, Inc..

Ayako joined Owls Consulting Group in 2020 after working at Deloitte Tohmatsu Consulting and Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) where she was involved in negotiating EPAs/FTAs with other countries in the Asia Pacific region, as well as negotiating WTO rule-making in Geneva. She also participated in MRA negotiations at METI’s Standard and Conformity Assessment Division.

At Owls Consulting Group, Ayako is chiefly engaged in regulatory strategy services with a variety of clients, including METI, thanks to her strong expertise in international trade and investment.
Ayako has given lectures and written numerous articles regarding global trade and intelligence. She is also a board member of the U.S. Economy Study Group within the Institute for International Trade and Investment (ITI).
