CRS is in charge of organizing the Japan Association for Cellular Agriculture (JACA), which has expanded to a group with almost 70 entities as either members or observers working closely with some aspects related to cellular agriculture. They consist of businesses, industry groups, bureaucracies, politicians, academia, law firms and media, mostly from Japan but some from abroad as well.
We are also designated as the official "Private-Public Partnership Working Team for Cellular Agriculture" by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. My organization - Center for Rule-making Strategies, Tama University - is in charge of coordinating activities of JACA.
The goal of JACA is to have in-depth discussions among all Japanese stakeholders so that we can safely promote the burgeoning cellular agriculture industry in Japan. We are currently focusing on cultured meat, poultry, and seafood. In doing so, we are creating an industry guideline and a recommendation for new law to be implemented.
