This program will consider the solution and analysis of international security issues from the viewpoints of international relations and strategic studies, but especially from the geography and geopolitical perspectives.
The term "geopolitics," as represented by the term "geopolitical risk," is now becoming indispensable in discussing international politics, but what exactly does it entail? As an academic approach, geopolitics is not a traditional subject of geography, but rather is studied in a way that is associated with contemporary thought and philosophy. However, geopolitics, which is directly related to security since ancient times, is also used in the field of strategic studies to analyze and propose national grand strategies. In this program, we will focus on the concept of "geopolitics," which is now essential to consider in the international business environment, in order to acquire knowledge and wisdom in strategic research in the increasingly severe security environment and to think about how we should utilize geopolitical thinking in the international context.
The aim of the course is to introduce the theory and practice of strategy. The goal is to introduce students to the theory and practice of strategy, with the goal that by the end of the program, students will have an understanding of "strategic thinking". The program is structured to illustrate the multidimensionality of strategy and the nature of the relationship between strategy and policy, strategy, operations, tactics, and technology, and although its content is empirically based, historical topics and topics related to current events are also touched upon, not as an end in themselves, but as a means of understanding strategic behavior (and non-behavior) will be touched upon in order to understand the context.
